DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and monitor high pressure boiler operations and respond to varying load requirements including starting and shutting down.
Ensure that various meter readings of pressure and temperature are recorded.
Inspect boiler pipes, valves, pumps, and safety devices for leaks and malfunctions.
Periodically inspect and adjust control mechanisms by constant visual checks, reading gauges, and manipulating controls.
Blow down boiler when conductive solids and impurities exceed specified limits; test high- and low- pressure safety controls.
Ensuring the equipment and work station is clean and adhering to 5s.
Assisting the boiler technician in minor equipment repairs, perform daily maintenance on boilers including oiling and greasing of stokers, fans, motors, and other operating mechanisms.
Observe fire and safety precautions keeping current knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations in order to ensure full compliance at all times.
Responsible for chemical makeup of water, testing of water qualities, and checking viscosity of oil, including: Adding chemicals to condition boiler water to maintain a chemical balance in boiler water according to prescribed procedures.
Liasing with the quality team in Performing tests to the boiler water.
Monitoring, controlling proper use of fuel used to fire boiler.
Prepare and maintain records on treatment, oil, fuel and chemicals consumption, and steam and hot water production.
Cooperate and work with authorities and other inspectors as required.
Perform general maintenance duties requiring skills in plumbing, painting or mechanical trades. Investigate and take corrective action for emergency repairs.
Maintaining good housekeeping and cleanliness inside the boiler hose and its environs.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
Certificate or Diploma in boiler and steam systems operations from a recognized approved boiler training institution.
2+ years practical working experience in the boiler and steam systems operations
Practical working knowledge of various types of boilers and steam systems equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams, schematics and blueprints
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Computer skills (Excel, word and internet/email writing).
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
