Key Responsibilities:
Sample Collection and Preparation:
Collect samples from various sources for laboratory testing.
Prepare samples for analysis, ensuring proper handling and storage to prevent contamination.
Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on samples to detect contaminants, pathogens, and other harmful substances.
Utilize laboratory instruments and equipment such as microscopes, spectrophotometers, and pH meters.
Perform routine tests including, but not limited to, bacteriological analysis, chemical analysis, and physical property testing.
Data Recording and Reporting:
Accurately record test results and observations in laboratory logs and databases.
Prepare detailed reports of findings for review by senior laboratory personnel and health officials.
Communicate any significant findings that may pose a risk to public health promptly.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Adhere to established laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
Participate in internal and external quality control programs and proficiency testing.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding laboratory practices and public health standards.
Laboratory Maintenance:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly.
Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Safety and Sanitation:
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Handle hazardous materials and dispose of waste according to established protocols.
Participate in safety training and continuing education programs.
