Laboratory Technician

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs sampling and quality surveillance of DLA capitalized products stored within DFSP DG.
Maintains updated and accurate record of test results, both on paper and in the FMDE program.
Carry out sampling and testing of petroleum products accurately and timely IAW the ASTM methods, MIL-STD-3004, AVAIR 00-80T-109, T.O. 42B-1-1, and other standards.
Performs sampling on ships and verifies conformity to specifications of product receipts.
Performs calibration, basic quality checks and minor troubleshooting of various laboratory equipment.
Operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, centrifuge, agitators, viscosimeter, chemical balance scales, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment.
Prepares reports and other documents as required.
Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
Performs coordination roles for environmental and safety.
Upkeep cleanliness of work areas, apparatus and equipment
Maintain and manage storage of samples and other hazmat’s.
Performs other job, as directed.

BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires general chemistry lab skills including basic laboratory safety and best practices.
Good mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
Must have good oral and written communication skills which enable effective liaison with clients, other departments within the organization, subcontractors, and clients, reports directly to the Senior Fuel Chemist
Particular attention to detail, good project management skills.
Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
Must be contract-oriented and computer literate in Microsoft Office software.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
Can lift to at least 15lbs.
Can climb fuel tanks of at least 30ft.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING:

Registered Chemist, Chemical Technologist or Chemical Engineer is highly desired but not required

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, or other related field from an accredited university or college

EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least two (2) years of experience working in fuel laboratory or analytical laboratory.

Basic terms of the job offer.

Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance and project status.
Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $1,020 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday,will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.
Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.

Other requirements

Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.
Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months (unless processing for a CDL-required position, which will require 12 months remaining).
