Business Development Manager

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
New Business:

Formulate and implement a business strategy that would enable the company to meet sales performance targets.
Achieve annual individual sales targets.
Preparing quotations for: -Warehousing, Air, sea, road, imports and exports worldwide.
Local and international projects and tenders.
Identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services or new ways of reaching existing markets.
Negotiate with shipping lines, airlines, transporters and agents to get the best rate. Build a network of contacts across target sectors.
Retaining existing customers and winning incremental revenue from them.
Analyses the customer base across the Company’s existing business to establish a common approach to retention and growth.
Organize and represent the Company at key networking events to raise the company profile.
Preparing new collateral materials to support business development efforts.
Prepare and submit all tenders’ quotes and shortly after that make effective follow-ups till the tender is converted into an actual profitable business.
Liaising with ULL and group Associates in the Region to develop mutual business opportunities. Achieving real growth on all products and services offered by ULL in East Africa, South Sudan, Rwanda and Burundi.
Assist in creating an effective SOP between ULL and its global network partner Rohlig to develop a seamless partnership and increase mutual business.

Customer Relationship Management:

Conducting regular sales visits to customers; producing and sharing follow-up reports.
Collaborating with internal departments to provide excellent customer service always.
Running regular customer feedback surveys, and sharing the results to drive service improvements.
Maintaining a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving for customers.
Build and maintain relationships with as many key contacts/decision-makers as possible and enhance long-lasting business partnerships.
Prepare programs for external communication, customer engagement, and branding.

​​​​​​​Data Analysis. /Reporting

Preparing customer profiles; folders for quotations submitted; and files for follow-up to maintain an up-to-date database.
Preparing monthly sales reports to the Accounts Department to determine market share and profitability.
Carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present findings to senior management. Provide Weekly /Monthly results assessments of sales activities.

Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to identify opportunities for business expansion.
Work with the management and operations team, develop and manage an up-to-date understanding of the logistics environment implications for existing and new sectors.

​​​​​​​Requirements

Holds recognized qualifications in Sales and Marketing/Supply Chain Management. More than 10 years experience in Freight Forwarding Industry in a similar capacity. Proven Sales track record.
Agile, competent and innovative.
Excellent negotiator with the ability to persuade, motivate and influence.
A detailed understanding of the commercial drivers in a high-performing organization with strong communication and influencing skills to build relationships with employees, stakeholders, and government.
An experienced Business Manager of diverse teams who is a risk taker with clear and robust practical decision-making ability to complex business challenges.
An outgoing and convincing personality, a sense of urgency, drive and result-oriented.
