Strategic Partnerships and Fundraising Lead, HETA

The Opportunity

As the Strategic Partnerships Lead, you will be responsible for driving private sector engagement and partnerships that generate leverage (either cash or in-kind) required to achieve the goals of the Health Electrification and Telecommunications Alliance (HETA) . You will engage with and persuade private sector partners to cultivate long-term relationships and drive financial contributions.

This position may be based in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, or Tanzania.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships responsibilities: 60%

Contribute to the development and implementation of HETA’s private sector engagement strategy to increase reach and drive results through partnerships, including researching relevant trends and funding sources.
Develop and deliver persuasive presentations to potential private sector organizations on the mutual benefits of joining the Alliance and contributing to its mission.
Conduct regular follow-up and foster strong relationships with private sector entities to increase understanding and visibility of HETA’s work and benefits of collaboration.
Support in-country team members with the development and execution of country-specific partnership plans.
Manage HETA’s CRM (customer relationship management) platform to keep partner meeting engagement details up-to-date and accessible across the team.
Manage the workflow of clearing prospective partners through the required due diligence process and onboarding them as formal alliance members.

Fundraising responsibilities: 40%

Contribute to the development and implementation of HETA’s fundraising strategy to increase leverage contributions from non-USG funding sources.
Take the lead role in mapping out funding sources via corporate social investments, philanthropic, and grant opportunities and develop a pipeline of high-potential funders in the energy and health scape.
Lead the capture process of developing pitching documents and taking a lead role in pitching directly to potential funders, in collaboration with the HETA team.
Liaise with Abt’s private capital/innovative finance team to explore other potential financing mechanisms.

What We Value

Bachelor’s Degree + Twelve years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Ten years of relevant experience, or PhD+ Eight years of relevant experience.
Understanding of business metrics, ROI, and partnership modalities.
Experience fundraising and knowledge of the Energy and Health funders in sub–Saharan Africa is an added advantage.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required, to meet with potential partners.
Proven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with executive leadership to achieve program objectives.
Demonstrated success in identifying and cultivating partnerships and fundraising to support SDGs or other social goods.
Strong relationship building skills and entrepreneurial and creative approach to partner engagement.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
