Job Description
Specimen Preparation:

Receive and log tissue specimens accurately.
Perform fixation, dehydration, clearing, embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissue specimens.
Ensure specimens are processed in a timely manner to meet diagnostic and research needs.

Sectioning and Staining:

Use microtomes to cut sections of tissue for mounting on slides.
Perform routine and special staining techniques as required.
Maintain quality control of staining procedures to ensure accurate diagnosis.

Equipment Maintenance:

Operate and maintain histology equipment such as tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes, and stainers.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
Ensure proper calibration and performance of equipment.

Quality Control and Assurance:

Adhere to laboratory protocols and procedures.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.
Document and maintain records of all tests and procedures.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow all laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Participate in continuing education and training programs.

Communication and Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Assist in training and mentoring new laboratory personnel.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure optimal patient care.
