Based in Nairobi, this role focuses on business development to and from Asia. The objective of the sales representative is to be the main driver in developing Kuehne+Nagel’s footprint on the trade across the East African Cluster. The scope of work covers Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda, both for import and export volumes. The sales representative is expected to drive the performance across the region, build a solid customer portfolio and ensure a great customer experience by closely collaborating with the customer care (CCL) & operational care teams (OCC) to ensure superior service is constantly provided to the customers.
Your Responsibilities
Development of Sea Logistics business to and from Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda, in line with the set yearly targets in TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) & CBM (Cubic meter).
To Visit at least 30 customers per Month, 50% of which must be new. Aim to develop and strengthen customer relationship as well as business development.
To prepare at least 50 Quotations per month 50% to target the new business/clients.
To prepare at least 50 Opportunities per month, 50% for new clients, 100% must be through QTSEA (Quotation Tool).
To aggressively contact fellow peers in other Kuehne+Nagel stations with an aim of building business collaborations.
CoreLog (System) – To regularly/weekly update all opportunities, visits, reports, quotations, for both existing and new clients and to ensure maintenance of 100% data quality.
Create and manage a healthy customer/ opportunity pipeline.
Have weekly catch up on the market & pipeline update calls / meetings with Sea Logistics Pricing Specialist, Nairobi.
Determine and follow the sales strategy on focused accounts in line with National Sea Logistics Manager, Nairobi.
Maintain CoreLog (System) inputs for all client activities and opportunities and update same regularly.
Conduct sales projects as required by Ocean Freight Management.
Act as the main liaison between Customer and Kuehne+Nagel contacts to ensure an aligned approach.
Actively promote Kuehne+Nagel business solutions to our customer base (myKN+, Sea Explorer & Value added Services).
Understand and communicate local customer needs throughout the organization.
Communicate and co-ordinate specific customer requirements including RFQ’s (Request for quote) with the organization.
Be the voice of the Customer and communicate such proactively with Kuehne+Nagel.
Be personally involved in all Customer requirements, maintaining close communication between Customer and Kuehne+Nagel Operations / Customer Service (and management where necessary). Take Ownership of administrational duties assigned.

Your Skills And Experiences
Minimum Bachelors / First University Degree in Sales/Marketing/Economics or BA from a reputable Academic Institution
Preferred Masters / Second University Degree
Excellent communication skills & team player
Professional Selling and Problem-solving skills
Computer Literacy
Minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience in the field as a sales representative in the Clearing & Forwarding/Logistics industry
Proficiency in mandarin as a spoken language an added advantage
