REMUNERATIVE PACKAGE FOR THE POSITION OF LECTURER – GRADE AC12

Job Title : Lecturer – Grade AC 12
Basic Salary: Kes. 110,591– Kes. 160,357 per month
Other Allowances: As provided for in the terms of service.
No. of Vacancies : One (1) for each Specified Area of Specialization
Terms of Service : Successful candidate will be offered the adjacent remuneration package on three (3)
years’ contract renewable subject to satisfactory work performance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Supervise and mentor both students and staff in their area of specialization/expertise.
 Lead research/innovation teams in area of specialization/expertise.
 Provide strategic leadership in development of academic programmes and research activities in their area of specialization/expertise within the department.
 Be a member of the departmental and School academic board to provide leadership in their area of specialization/expertise.
 Departmental development: Teach and train in their area of specialization/expertise at the appropriate level.
 University development: Mentor and develop teaching programs and skills in their area of specialization/expertise.
 Research and innovation, solicit funding and develop research programs and teams in their area of specialization/expertise.
 Networking: Create networks with local regional and international organizations in their area of specialization/expertise.
 Academic publishing: conduct scholarly and academic publishing.
 Input into the department budget development in their area of specialization/expertise for departmental development.
 Identify and develop research/innovation products for income generation in their area of specialization
 Create linkages and partnerships.
Develop research and academic programs.
 Management and administration of examinations and assessments.
 Offer career guidance and mentorship.
 Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT:
For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

An earned Doctorate degree (PhD) or equivalent degree in the specified specialization or related field from an accredited and
recognized university; and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

OR

A Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university (in special cases) with at least three (3) years teaching experience at the university level or in a research or in industry; and
 A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers; and
Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Possession of a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in related area of specialization.
Registered or be registerable by a professional body (where applicable).
Computer literacy.
Served in the Grade of Tutorial Fellow or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Shown ability to utilize Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) systems.
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
