About the Role:
The Internal Investigator will oversee all BURN internal audits and forensic audits to ensure compliance and proactively detect potential issues. The role holder will also conduct thorough and confidential investigations into fraud, misconduct, and other malicious activities within the organization.
The role holder will ensure that all investigations and audits are conducted fairly, objectively, and professionally, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Investigations:
Lead and manage internal investigations into allegations of fraud, misconduct, and other unethical activities.
Gather and analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and document findings.
Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure comprehensive and accurate investigations.
Auditing:
Plan, execute, and oversee regular internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct forensic audits to identify potential fraud, financial discrepancies, or other malicious activities.
Analyze audit findings and provide recommendations for improvements to internal controls and processes.
Reporting:
Prepare detailed investigative and audit reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
Present investigation and audit results to the Senior Management Team
Maintain accurate and confidential records of all investigations and audits.
Compliance and Ethics:
Ensure all investigations and audits comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
Advise on improvements to policies and procedures to prevent future incidents and enhance compliance.
Promote a culture of integrity and ethical behaviour within the organization.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess potential risks related to fraud, misconduct, and compliance failures.
Recommend and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
Work with other internal departments within BURN manufacturing to enhance internal controls and risk management practices.
Training and Awareness:
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on fraud prevention, ethical behaviour, compliance, and internal controls.
Raise awareness of reporting mechanisms and the importance of ethical conduct.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Business Administration, Accounting, or past relevant experience in a similar role
Relevant professional certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certificate of Insurance – Fraud Investigator or equivalent is an added advantage
Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal investigations, compliance, auditing, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of investigation techniques, auditing standards, legal requirements, and best practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations and audits simultaneously.
Familiarity with the regulatory environment in BURN countries of operation is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel within the countries of operation as needed.
Proficiency in relevant software and investigative/auditing tools.
