Assistant Finance Manager – Financial Reporting And Tax

Responsibilities
Financial planning, analysis and reporting

Oversee and manage the month-end closing process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Review journal entries, adjusting entries, and accruals to ensure proper accounting treatment.
Analyze financial data and variances to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement

Budgeting and forecasting

Collaborate with the Head of Finance in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Monitor budget performance and provide explanations for variances to support informed decision-making.
Evaluate financial implications of proposed business initiatives and strategic plans. » Internal Controls
Develop and maintain a robust internal control framework aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Design policies, procedures, and guidelines to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets. •Implement controls to ensure accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial and operational information.

Fixed asset management

Develop and implement policies and procedures for the management and accounting of fixed assets.
Maintain a comprehensive fixed asset register, including acquisition, disposal, depreciation, and impairment details.
Conduct periodic physical inventory and reconciliation of fixed assets to ensure accuracy. » Tax Planning and Management
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns (income tax, Vat, Withholding Tax, etc.).
Coordinate and manage tax audits and inquiries.
Prepare and review tax provisions, tax account reconciliations, and related financial disclosures.
Conduct tax forecasting and modeling to support financial planning and budgeting processes.
Analyze financial data to identify tax planning opportunities and risks. •Assess tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential exposures.

Key Requirements

7 years in a senior financial position, preferably in a retail or audit setup.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance related field, CPA-K, or CIMA qualification
Knowledge of Sage or any accounting software.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
