Deputy Team Leader, Operations

Position
Options is seeking a Deputy Team Leader (DTL), Operations for one of the biggest global programmes to end FGM/C, ‘The Girl Generation: Support to the Africa-led movement to end FGM/C’ (TGG/ALM). Based in Nairobi, this role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the TGG/ALM team to ensure efficient and high-quality programme delivery. The DTL will work closely with a range of very committed and engaged individuals, including the Team Leader, and the Programme Management and Finance teams in Nairobi, as well as Options’ global teams, to oversee the management of HR, programme finances and contracts, and to ensure compliance with Options’ policies and quality assurance standards.
The Deputy Team Leader, Operations will;

Provide planning and financial management oversight which entails annual work planning, quality assuring internal and external financial reporting, overseeing preparation for external and internal annual audits and implementation reviews;
Enhance team management including line managing direct reports, mentor, coach and support staff to ensure they are motivated and performing;
Oversee the effective management of Human Resource systems and documentation within the programme;
Ensure Compliance with Options and client requirements through systems such as due diligence, procurement, contracting;
Provide oversight of programme security and office management;
Support client relations and programme governance;
Provide technical support to specific programme areas;
Liaison with other Options teams.

Requirements

Post-graduate degree in relevant subject (public health, business or the social sciences) or equivalent work experience;
Significant and proven experience working in international development at a senior management level or above for at least five years;
Strong leadership and organisational skills;
Extensive experience in leading the coordination of complex multi-country programmes;
Proven skills in people management;
Proven experience in strategic work planning and managing large, complex, multi-country budgets;
Proven experience in risk management;
Experience of developing and managing consultancy contracts and sub-contracting;
Skills in security, due diligence, and quality assurance processes;
Experience in developing and delivering high quality outputs;
Able to write fluently and accurately in English.
