Job Description

The Director – Africa will play a pivotal role in the climate ecosystem, focusing on Clean Energy, Climate Finance, Net Zero Strategies & ESG, Carbon Solutions, and related areas. This high-ranking position demands an entrepreneurial mindset, akin to being the CEO of your domain. You will be responsible for developing and expanding our client’s presence across Africa, requiring a clear vision and confidence in execution.

The Successful Applicant
Consultancy Experience:

Preferably with a Business Consulting and Services sector company
Seeking to engage in impactful, cutting-edge work while building their personal brand and our client’s reputation.

Thought Leadership:

Contributions to well-regarded articles and participation in reputable panel discussions on climate change are essential.

Climate Sector Expertise:

Deep knowledge in clean energy, energy access, finance & climate finance, sector-building with DFI clients, and creating market value.

Attributes:

Ambitious, high integrity, technically proficient, and driven by success.
Extensive experience and understanding of the climate sector.
Passionate about fostering growth for our client.

Reporting Structure:

Day-to-day reporting to the Managing Director.
General reporting to the Board and CEO.
Minimal oversight.

Location:

Preference for relocation to Nairobi.
Open to African nationals within and outside Africa.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in the climate domain, including technical expertise and project implementation.
Consulting experience, including strategic advisory and client management.
Sector-specific knowledge in areas like renewable energy and climate finance.
Senior stakeholder engagement and policy advocacy skills.
A master’s degree in public policy or an MBA is preferred.
Experience in diverse geographic regions, particularly in emerging markets in the Global South, with a specific focus on Africa.
