Business Development Officer – Alternative Channels

Key Responsibilities
The role holder will be responsible for driving production of retail life insurance business with the overall objective of growing Alternative Channels profitably.
Duties and Responsibilities

Bancassurance Channel
Promote Sales of Ordinary Life Insurance Products to Customers in Banks, Saccos and Micro-Finance institutions.
Establish, develop and maintain New Partnerships with Banks, Saccos and Micro-Finance Institutions.
Establish, develop and maintain positive business and Customer relationships.
Deliver the agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within agreed timelines.
Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track sales and status reports.

Independent Agents Channel

Recruit regional coordinators to ensure consistent ordinary life business acquisition.
Ensure all regions are actively supported through adequate IFA’s as per the agreed parameters.
Support regional coordinators to achieve maximum productivity.
Open and maintain market relationships to support regional coordinators and IFA’s in respective Regions.
Grow ordinary life business in respective regions through active recruitment, retention and motivation of IFA’s.
Maintain recommended 90% persistency level at all times
Identify new opportunities for growth in order to drive ongoing sales.
Coordinate the product training to ensure the regional coordinators and IFA’s are adequately trained.
Co-ordinate any marketing campaigns to promote business growth
Provide market feedback to ensure quality service and underwriting standards are maintained.
Regularly conduct market survey aimed at collecting market intelligence.
Liaising with business support functions to follow up on client queries and complaints resolution.
Preparing weekly and monthly reports for both channels as required and submit to the Head of Ordinary Life

Qualifications and Skills

Business related Degree.
Professional qualification in Insurance or Marketing.
At least 3 years’ experience in life insurance sales related role at supervisory level.
Attention to detail.
Self-starter who is well organized.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office especially MS excel and MS word.
