About the role
The Supply Chain and Logistics Manager will oversee supply chain and logistics issues related to customs clearance, warehousing, and distribution of commodities. He/she will serve as a liaison and point of contact for USAID on matters related specifically to the warehousing, distribution and logistics technical aspects of contract implementation. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with occasional in country travels as needed. The offer and contract are subject to donor funding and approval.
Job Responsibilities
Design and implement transparent and cost-efficient supply chain process and build logistics capacity and expertise
Advise on project policy and procedures related to inventory management, warehousing, and logistics
Ensure Dawa za Ubora supply chain systems allow for effective response to efficiently support all project activities
Engage in inter-partners collaboration and cooperation between the various USAID implementing partners and Ministry of Health programs (NASCOP, DNMP and TB Program)
Conduct distribution network optimization studies, monitor inventory, and analyze project requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired results
To provide risk assessment of operational areas and advise the leadership on ways to address the risks, enabling project implementation
To gather a solid first-hand, and up-to-date understanding of the overall in-country supply chain and health delivery systems context
To effectively manage inventory with the implementation of stocking plans, regular inventory audits and stock takes along with automation of inventory reporting
Manage employee performance by cascading the project objectives to supply chain employees.
Develop Annual supply chain workplans and periodic reports
Manage the assigned team to ensure a healthy work environment
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Health Systems Management or related field;
CILT, CIPS, CHL, Medical Logistics or equivalent certification preferred;
Minimum of 7 years of logistics experience of which 3 years is in a Management role
Experience in the humanitarian sector in developing countries preferred;
Experience with transportation management, outsourcing, performance management, and cost optimization;
Leadership experience in supporting transportation teams to thrive;
Demonstrated experience in setting up and managing Health Supply Chain Systems including M&E of supply chain, Supply Chain Strategy, forecasting and supply planning, procurement planning, and contract management;
Prior experience managing consultants and technical experts;
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish priorities in a time sensitive environment and meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality.
You are particularly competent in operations planning and problem solving.
You have previous experience managing teams. You are a mentor, patient, and enjoy helping your teams improve their skills.
