IOM, UN Migration Agency in Nairobi, Kenya is looking for a Deputy Head of Movement Operations who will be responsible for supporting the overall management of resettlement projects and movement components of non-resettlement projects throughout East and Southern Africa (ESA) under the guidance of the Head of Movement Operations, ESA.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
Master’s degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or,
University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
The following are highly preferable for this position:
Transportation-related and/or management experience;
Knowledge of and prior experience in of IOM’s Movement Operations program implementation and administrative, financial and business rules and practices;
Experience in project cycle management, preferably in RMM programming areas;
A demonstrated record of establishing and maintaining good working relationships with governmental and diplomatic authorities, national, regional and international institutions, as well as civil society actors; and,
Experience serving as a donor liaison and writing donor reports.
Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with and lead a team;
Demonstrated proficiency with IGator, MiMOSA, and Amadeus; and,
Excellent computer skills and a high level of proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
