The Director will play a critical role in supporting the actions, strategies, and systems undergirding Teach For All’s cultivation of this deep and dynamic donor pipeline. Their duties will range from data management to research and meeting preparation, as well as managing up to the Head of Individual Giving to execute expansive partnerships with individual and family foundation donors and prospects. The successful candidate must be able to multi-task; produce high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and dynamic environment; and juggle several competing priorities with a spirit of flexibility, positivity, and a sense of possibility. The Director will report directly to the Head of Individual Giving, as well as work in close coordination with the rest of Teach For All’s Global Development Team.
Responsibilities
The Director of Development, Leadership Gifts will:
Work closely with the Head of Leadership Gifts and CEO to engage a robust portfolio of HNWI globally (approximately $15M annually), as well as increase the funding raised via the individual giving portfolio to deliver significant revenue and raise awareness about Teach For All’s work among HNWI circles
Co-create and manage an engaging and personalized cultivation strategy that helps bring our global work and impact to life
Lead organizational efforts to broaden the base of HNWI funding through maximizing the level of support from current donors and identifying and cultivating new prospects
Strategy & Execution
Work in close partnership with Teach For All’s Head of Leadership Gifts, CEO and other stakeholders to identify, cultivate and maximize a robust and growing pipeline of high-net-worth individual donors and prospects
In close collaboration with the Head of Leadership gifts, oversee a portfolio of supporters by creating and executing strategies for the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of new and existing donors
Build and maintains deep insight and knowledge to serve as a resource to the Global Development Team and Teach For All’s network partners and programmatic staff in accessing funding and support from donors and to connect donor interests to Teach For All’s goals and priorities
Manage up to the Head of Leadership Gifts and CEO to execute on strategies designed to meet the goals of the portfolio
Writing & Communications
Craft and execute a donor communications strategy including but not limited to proposals, concept notes, thank you letters, email communications, and other materials for donors and prospects. This will include writing/editing new material, adapting material prepared by other staff, and reviewing the work of other colleagues as needed
Create strategic meeting briefs for the CEO and Head of Leadership Gifts with appropriate objectives, asks, angles and donor history that anticipate potential questions from funders and propose potential responses
Maintain meticulous internal records and ensure relevant information is appropriately distributed internally
Project Management & Relationship Building
Project manage cross-organizational projects, initiatives, and reports from initial idea to execution, leveraging expertise across the organization as needed
Partner with programmatic staff to advance shared goals in order to raise significant resources for Teach For All and our network partners
Build the relationships and insight to serve as a thought leader to Teach For All’s network partners in accessing funding and support from HNWI
Systems & Operations
Ensures efficient operations and manages tracking systems to support the ambitious fundraising goals of the portfolio and oversees progress to proactively ensure the most efficient and effective use of Salesforce and other tracking systems
Plans and executes special projects and events for the advancement of Individual Giving Portfolio goals including but not limited to managing and executing virtual donor engagement events and learning opportunities and crafting special and targeted communication campaigns
Maintains deep knowledge of fundraising outlook, progress to goal, and projected payments in service of maximizing opportunities with donors and prospects within the portfolio
As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
At least 5 years of full-time related work experience
Prior experience with one of our network partner organizations, either as a participant or staff member is strongly preferred
