About the Role:
As the SHE Governance Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with local Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) legislation in Africa and the company’s SHE management system. The ultimate goal is to extend oversight to the entire EMEA region, making this role essential in safeguarding the well-being of our employees and promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough audits to assess compliance with local Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) legislation and the company’s SHE management system in Africa.
Identify gaps and areas for improvement in existing safety protocols and procedures.
Develop actionable recommendations to address compliance deficiencies and enhance safety measures.
Maintain accurate records of audit findings, observations, and corrective actions taken.
Prepare detailed reports outlining audit results and recommendations for management review.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
Provide guidance and support to internal teams on SHE requirements.
Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness of safety protocols and promote a culture of compliance.
Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in SHE governance to continuously improve audit processes and protocols.
Develop strategies for scaling audit processes and resources to accommodate regional expansion.
Serve as a subject matter expert on SHE governance, providing guidance and support to regional teams as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience in conducting SHE audits and compliance assessments, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
In-depth knowledge of local SHE legislation and regulations in Africa, with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements effectively.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify compliance gaps and develop practical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time within the Africa region initially, with potential for extended travel within the EMEA region as the role expands.
Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
