Generator Technician – Mechanical

The Davis & Shirtliff Group is the leading supplier of water and energy solutions in the region. The group is Kenyan based and operates through a network of Kenyan branches as well as regional subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC and Zimbabwe. The company has a total complement of over 800 highly trained and professional staff spread across the region and seeks to fill the position of Generator set Service Technician.
Reporting to the Service Manager, Nairobi Office, the Generator Set Service Technician will be responsible for achievement of the following key tasks;

Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with generators, including mechanical failures, electrical problems, and control system malfunctions.
Providing detailed report for proper repair
Conducting repairs and replacements of faulty components to restore generator functionality
Performing routine maintenance tasks
Providing emergency response services to address generator failures
Providing remote service support to teams out in the field
Giving simple guidance to clients on proper use, care and safety of products
Carrying out service visits as and when required
Providing Technical sales support

Experience

Excellent troubleshooting skills for quick diagnosis of equipment issues
Experience in diagnosis and repair of both mechanical and electrical systems of an engine.
Working knowledge of DSE Control modules
Experience on Genset installation including synchronized sets
Excellent customer service
Experience with different types of engines.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Mechanical or related Engineering Course
Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel
A driving license is a requirement
At least 3 years’ experience of Engine Diagnosis, Repair and Overhaul

Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
