Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining software systems and applications to meet the organization’s needs. The Systems Developer/Programmer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality health related software solutions that enhance efficiency, scalability, and reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare systems and enterprise resource planning, as well as a strong background in programming.
Key Responsibilities:
The developer / programmer will work closely with all departments and assist in developing a userfriendly web application translated in different languages with varying level of access by facility, country, bureau, and global teams.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, IT teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and design software solutions that address the needs of Africa Bureau healthcare initiatives.
Develop software applications, modules, and interfaces for healthcare information systems, including electronic medical records (EMR), clinical decision support systems, telemedicine platforms, and patient management systems.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript, and frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
Design, develop, and implement EMR modules and customizations.
Develop and maintain ERP systems.
Integrate complex elements and technological advances into work assignments for overall systems improvements.
Lead large tasks or projects and provide direction to other staff to design, develop, test, debug, install, implement, modify and support new or existing applications software, systems software and perform the necessary systems administration to provide a total systems solution in accordance with area standard practices.
Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and Integrate software components with other thirdparty programs.
Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of software applications to ensure high quality and reliability, and upgrade existing software.
Gather, evaluate user feedback, and create technical documentation for reference and reporting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
Conduct system analysis to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
Provide technical support and training to end-users and prepare technical documentation and user manuals.
Participate in code reviews and quality assurance processes ensuring data integrity and security compliance.
Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in healthcare informatics and software development.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, BBIT, Telecommunications, or related field from reputable institution of higher learning.
Proven experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or similar role
At least five years’ experience in developing IT solutions and providing application support and maintenance services.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
Proven experience with OpenMRS 3.0 framework and ERP systems and its associated technologies for at least 2 years supporting integrated Health Information Systems programming.
Extensive working knowledge of coding using .NET, ASP.NET framework, C#, Python, programming languages and SQL servers.
Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC)
Advanced java programming skills including familiarity with the concept dictionary, hibernate, spring framework, Maven, SQL, version control tools, continuous integration, and code testing frameworks, and ReactJS.
Experience of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Java or responsive web would all be beneficial.
Proven professional experience in web technologies, including their development and deployment, and development of web-based information systems.
Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks
