Position summary:
The Rainforest Alliance has recently embarked on the new phase of a global M&E project focusing on the coffee sector, with one of our long-term strategic private sector partners. This project will work to accelerate our partners regenerative transition and support producers within their coffee supply chain to become more efficient, resilient and prosperous, at scale. This will include in-depth, science backed impact monitoring and evaluation for adaptive management across over 15 countries. By elevating the current M&E system to excel in operational execution, breadth and speed, and by providing actionable data-driven insights on interventions and their impact we will support our partner in accelerating progress of their regenerative transitions, achieve targets and steer further investments.
As a result, we are recruiting for a Project Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator to coordinate and execute the monitoring and evaluation efforts of this project in Ivory Coast and other African countries (potentially Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya). This role will report to the Country Director, Ivory Coast and will have a project reporting line to the Supply Chain and Project M&E Manager.
Under the guidance of the Supply Chain & Project M&E Manager, the Senior Associate will ensure all project deliverables are met in country, providing input for reporting and system improvements and ensuring robust data collection, analysis and quality control. In coordination with the Country Director, the Senior Associate will coordinate with M&E partners, the local team of our partner and ensure dissemination of results and findings as required.
We are seeking an M&E professional who is self-motivated, hands-on, results oriented, with meticulous attention to detail, quality and accuracy, and who is passionate about environmental issues.
Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the supply chain M&E project implementation in Ivory Coast and East African countries, including activities such as survey design, survey translation (as needed), survey app testing, facilitate enumerator training, and field data collection supervision;
Ensure internal coordination with members of the Rainforest Alliance project team, and other key internal departments, as required.
Review and prepare guidance on the survey tools/questionnaires, prepare list of selected sample farms and farm visit plans to ensure compliance with RA/corporate partner sampling standards and guidelines;
Support data collection teams by explaining M&E concepts, describing basic coffee production practices, and arranging logistics;
Conduct data quality control, statistical analysis and prepare M&E reports;
Present M&E key findings or results to both company partner and stakeholders;
Provide oversight and management to M&E partners in conducting field monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities, including (but not limited to) contracting data collectors/M&E partners, organizing training, and coordinating payments; and
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in agriculture, forestry, natural resources, environmental management, or related field;
At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in conducting monitoring and evaluation of agricultural supply chains, leading data collections teams, synthesizing and analysing data;
Knowledge of statistics and principles, practices and methodologies of project monitoring and evaluation;
Strong leadership and communication skills and comfortable facilitating M&E training events and backstopping data collection teams in often challenging international settings; demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training and mentoring;
Experience with statistical packages (Stata, SPSS, R, etc.) and data visualization software (Power BI, etc.) a plus;
Fluency in English and French;
Ability to work independently and with multi-disciplinary teams, multi-task and work under tight timelines;
Ability to travel a minimum of 20% per year, locally and internationally.
