Training & Business Development Manager

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and building a profitable training unit. Additionally, the following will be expected:

Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy to build capacity among government officials, civil society organizations, and community-based organizations/ members on data literacy, open governance, and technology.
Design and deliver training programs, workshops, and seminars that are tailored to the specific needs and objectives of target audiences, both in person and virtually.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop training materials, curricula, and resources aligned with organizational priorities and objectives.
Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, donors, and other stakeholders to support training initiatives and promote collaboration.
Lead business development efforts to secure funding and partnerships for training programs, including preparing grant proposals, concept notes, and project budgets.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, collect participant feedback, and make recommendations for program improvements and innovations.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in capacity building and training.
Represent Open Institute at conferences, workshops, and events to showcase our training offerings, network with potential partners, and raise the organization’s profile.
Supervise and mentor training staff, consultants, and interns to ensure the successful implementation of training initiatives and projects.
Stay up-to-date with adult learning trends, training design and methodologies, and E-learning management systems.
Any other duty allocated.

Competencies

 Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
 A minimum of five years of experience in training, capacity building, and business development, preferably in the non- profit or international development sector, is required.
 Proven track record of designing and delivering successful training programs and workshops, with experience in adult learning methodologies and participatory approaches.
 Strong business acumen with experience in fundraising, grant writing, and partnership development.
 Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
 Strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
 Familiarity with data-driven decision-making, open governance, and technology trends is desirable.
 Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages spoken in Africa (e.g. Swahili, French) is an asset.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
 Strong analytical and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 Self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to think creatively and outside the box.
 Proficient in MS Office suite.
 High level of agility and ability to multitask.
