JOB OBJECTIVE
The job holder will be responsible for overseeing the sound systems within the university halls and manage audio requirements for all events; ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all sound equipment, providing technical support during events, and collaborating with event organizers to meet their audio needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform regular maintenance checks on all sound equipment to ensure functionality.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely repairs or replacements as needed.
Keep inventory of the sound equipment and accessories
Coordinate with event organizers to understand their audio requirements.
Set up sound systems in various university halls and outdoor venues according to event specifications.
Operate the Sound System and audio equipment during events to ensure high-quality sound output.
Monitor audio levels and adjust as necessary to maintain optimal sound quality.
Provide technical support and guidance to event organizers, staff, students and performers.
Assist with the setup and operation of audio-visual equipment as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and university policies related to sound equipment operation.
Collaborate with various university departments to coordinate audio requirements.
Communicate effectively with event organizers to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Liaise with external vendors and technicians for specialized audio needs when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Sound Engineering, Media Production or any related course.
Three years’ experience in sound system operation and management,
Proficiency in operating soundboards, amplifiers, microphones, speakers, and other audio equipment.
Demonstrated experience with audio editing software and techniques.
Certification or training in audio engineering or related field is desirable.
OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Strong technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve audio issues quickly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support events as needed.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to sound equipment operation
