The main objective of this role is to leverage existing partnerships for SBCC implementation and build new local networks to support the sustainability of SBCC activities and ensure the strategies implemented contribute to set SBCC indicators to support demand creation for health, nutrition and protection services.
Key Responsibilities
In close collaboration with stakeholders, define an implementation plan and support the implementation, roll-out and monitoring of SBCC and demand generation activities as per the demand generation toolkit, that will be most effective in delivering the project goals and objectives in various sectors and with various stakeholders (incl. education and health).
Identify and coordinate together with City Officers regular opportunities for community or mobilization activities, in line with the demand generation toolkit.
Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the project and related intervention procedures.
Work with other team members pre-test and refine communication tools and job aids based in line with the demand generation toolkit.
Utilizing available demand generation guidelines and tools, participate in capacity-building and demonstration activities of the SBCC facilitators by providing technical assistance, in community sensitization and mobilization and behavior change communication.
Maintain open line of communication with the community to obtain feedback, complaints and work with the SBCC facilitators to maintain a log of the feedback/ complaints and come up with corrective actions.
Build partnerships and serve as principal liaison between relevant stakeholders and the project in the development and implementation of the SBCC / demand generation component.
Mobilize social support at all levels to create and sustain an enabling environment for the delivery of the intervention.
Work with M&E to collect qualitative and quantitative data for the biannual project reporting.
Provide supportive supervision as they deliver SBCC project activities at community level.
Document all lessons and continually improve the quality of the project delivery.
Develop and compile monthly reports of SBCC sessions conducted and people reached with key messages.
Participate in bi-weekly calls and meetings.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in health, nutrition or behavioral/ social sciences, marketing communications (with experience in the food marketing field).
2 years relevant professional experience in implementing social and behavior change communication programs at community level or integrated strategic food marketing and communications initiatives.
Experience in community mobilization and sensitization as well as social mobilization and campaigns in relation to SBCC.
Knowledge of public relations, marketing, social and behavior change communication models and strategies.
Technical knowledge of one or more of the project topic areas (health, nutrition, Agri nutrition WASH, gender) is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work, communicate, and build rapport with a variety of audience, of different cultural and gender background.
Good experience in monitoring and evaluation of programs including report writing and communication skills
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Graphic design skills are an asset.
Good understanding of organization’s project area in Busia and Bungoma.
