Head of Logistics

Tasks

The Head of Logistics is responsible for the overall supply chain management, with the overall goal of enhancing business development and ensuring sustainability and customer and stakeholder satisfaction. His/hers responsibilities include planning and managing logistics, warehouse, transportation; directing and optimizing and coordinating full order cycles; liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.

Supply chain infrastructure:

Responsible for the development of supply chain infrastructure including Aggregation centres/hubs and transport network to support operations in these locations.
Responsible for achieving improvements in the operating efficiency and cost base of the supply chain infrastructure by frequently reviewing asset locations and usages and performance.
Development, implementation, review and update of the supply chain strategy in the light of business developments and supply chain optimisation opportunities.

Operations:

Oversee the warehousing and inventory management functions.
Complying with all Health & Safety legislation; conducting regular H&S audits
Organisational structure: develop, implement and maintain the optimum organisational structure, with the most suitable arrangement of managers, supervisors and team leaders.
Working with HR, ensure that the following are in place, maintained and followed: Skills matrix, Succession and growth planning, Training and development
Oversee first, second and last mile logistics across all aggregation points and the factory

Operational processes:

Develop, implement, maintain and augment auditable standard operating procedures for all MGA and supply chain processes and working methods of Process measurement: develop and maintain KPIs for each operational process, showing performance against budget or target, explaining variances and trending changes
Responsibility for the costs, service levels and operational performance of: costs, service, productivity, stock management and documentation compliance, store friendliness Transport: costs, on-time in-full delivery, store friendliness, transfers, couriers

Requirements

Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement or any other relatable field
7 years progressive experience in a similar role
Experience in warehouse and inventory management
Experience in managing large teams
Significant experience of managing complex logistics and asset management operations safely to agreed time, cost and quality targets.
Significant experience of establishing, developing and leading a logistics function, managing retained resources
Excellent time management skills and detail Oriented
