Overall purpose of the job
The position holder is responsible for the portfolios of Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS), consultants, and visiting scientists. This includes managing the recruitment, contracting, compensation, and benefits of IRS, consultants, and visiting scientists.
Specific Duties:
Manage the recruitment and selection of the Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS), Consultants, and Visiting Scientists.
Manage the employment contracts of Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS), Consultants, Visiting Scientists, and Hosted institutions.
Manage the compensation and benefits of Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS), administering their education allowance, insurance, and pension schemes per policies and guidelines; and ensuring value for money.
Manage the 360-degree end-of-probation evaluations of Internationally Recruited Staff (IRS).
Contribute to the development and implementation of Human Resources management policies, systems, tools, and methods.
Contribute to the development and implementation of HR Information Systems to support service delivery and decision-making, specifically HR within ERP, Staff Attraction, Staff Recruitment,
Contract Management, and Compensation.
Contribute to the implementation of organisation design plans, including preparation and review of job classifications, job descriptions, and associated systems.
Prepare HR reports for the Governing Council, Senior Management Committee, donors, and otherreports as requested from time to time.
Supervise junior staff in the Human Resources Unit.
Requirements/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human resources, or business-related courses.
Knowledge of labour laws and familiarity with Human Resources practices within the industry.
10 years of relevant experience in Human Resources Management at a senior level, with a proven record of experience in an international organization.
Certification in Human Resources.
Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities.
Tact, diplomacy, and the ability to deal with different situations.
High degree of organization, adaptability, and prioritization.
Other desirable attributes
Ability to make decisions for the sub-unit and contribute to the formation of the policies and procedures with a medium level of autonomy.
Ability to act as a reference point for various people, able to work in a matrix, supervise staff and provide support, influence others, and ensure proper interpretation and application of the laid-out policies and procedures.
Capacity to provide HR-related financial data to relevant stakeholders.
Knowledge of resource mobilization of the business and ability to support managers with information and compliance with donor requirements.
Ability to adequately engage with international external parties (Insurance and pension providers, hosted institutions, recruiting agencies, job applicants, etc)
Reporting
This position reports to the Manager, People and Organisational Development.
