PURPOSE:
Responsible for recommending, implementing and monitoring system database as well as providing support to application system administrator and implementing best practice and procedures to manage company’s data and information. He/ She will provide DBA support for production, development and test Database environments and resolve database performance issues. Maintain end-to-end responsibilities for databases (Oracle, MS SQL and PostgreSQL).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for installation, configuration, optimization, tuning, upgrade & maintenance of database instances including maintaining database backup and recovery infrastructure both on premise and offsite to meet Business Data Recovery Objectives.
Management of project implementation tasks and administering of Oracle Fusion Middleware (WebLogic, BI, ODI, Audit Vault, Database firewall), including patching and cloning WebLogic domains. Manage and support high performance, highly available and mission critical database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, postgreSQL, MariaDB) for the Insurance core applications and other systems.
Working with both internal and external auditors to ensure database systems adhere to the Company policies and licensing requirements and promptly addressing any violations raised and overseeing continuous service level improvements initiatives associated with core processes and mission-critical systems.
Review and design database structures, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, ASM, SQL server transactional replication and MySQL group clusters to support business requirements including logical and physical database modelling.
Implement and perform database backup and recovery strategies that meet recovery and availability requirements.
Making requested changes, updates and modifications to database structures and migrating approved database changes from test into production environments, ensuring IT change management policies are adhered to.
Manage and support Enterprise Data warehouse including the development of reports from the data warehouse platform.
Works with various teams to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
Implement database security policies that are consistent with CIC group security policies.
Implement best practices and incorporate them in DBA procedures

Academic and Professional Requirements
Education
Minimum of Bachelors degree in an ICT related field from a reputable university
Computer literate in MS Office and other office applications
Certification in either of the following; OCP/OCA database Certification
Good Knowledge of WebLogic, Business Intelligence, ODI, IIS, Audit Vault, Database firewall and databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Strong knowledge of high availability configurations, clustering technologies.
In-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows server Operating systems.
