Multimedia Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:  

Ensure consistently high quality and timely photography and videography services, with appropriate captioning, to UNIS clients, including the Office of the Director-General and the UN Kenya Resident Coordinator’s Office;
Contribute to maintenance of UNIS media database with high-quality photos, videos and captions;
Conceptualise, research, develop and produce engaging multimedia content advancing UNIS objectives and priorities focused on a solutions narrative.
This includes short videos for various digital platforms including social media and websites, public service announcements, promotional videos, and video messages both internal and external to UNIS;
Develop promotional multimedia materials on UN work in collaboration with UN entity focal points and the UN Communications Group (UNCG) in Kenya;
Draft and edit short concept notes for UN observances and other priority events and contribute to measuring and reporting their impact;
Draft and edit talking points and other written communication as required;
Support the organisation and execution of UN events;
Contribute to the UNIS planning calendar and strategic planning;
Develop UNIS multimedia content production guidance and easy-to-use templates;
Conduct multimedia training as required.

Qualifications/special skills
Experience:   

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related area is required.  
Demonstrated ability to shoot, edit and caption.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality multimedia content for various platforms.
Excellent audio-visual production skills.
Excellent writing and editing skills.  
Strong awareness of digital trends, particularly in Africa.   
Experience working in sensitive and fast-moving news, communications, or advocacy contexts.  
Strong teamworking skills and responds positively to feedback.   
Familiarity with Africa development context required.  
Familiarity with the UN system.   

Languages

Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of Kiswahili and/or French is desirable.
