We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Public Relations Officer, responsible for shaping and maintaining a positive image for our esteemed University. The ideal candidate will possess proven and verifiable expertise in diverse PR functions, boast positive relationships with media professionals, demonstrate exceptional storytelling skills, and exhibit proficiency in social media management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to Director-Corporate Affairs and Marketing,the position holder will be responsible for the following,amongst others:
Formulate and assess PR strategies and campaigns to enhance the University’s image.
Devise a comprehensive media relations strategy, aiming for prominent placements in print, broadcast, and online media.
Innovate and pitch new ideas, amplify brand content on social media, and stay abreast of trends and opportunities.
Liaise with the marketing team to align PR campaigns with strategic goals, growth plans, and new business opportunities.
Oversee the production of promotional materials such as brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films, and multimedia programs.
Prepare and edit organisational publications, including employee and student newsletters for both internal and external audiences.
Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external, and effectively communicate with the media and the public.
Establish and maintain effective systems for collecting and analysing customer feedback.
Qualification & Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or Media studies from a recognized University.
At least 3 years of relevant working experience in a large and reputable organisation.
A relevant and recognised professional qualification
Membership in PRSK or its equivalent.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Proven track record as a Public Relations Officer or in a similar PR role.
Proficiency in managing media relations across online, broadcast, and print platforms.
Strong creative thinking and excellent communication skills.
Conflict resolution abilities with a knack for creative problem-solving.
Proficient in social media management, video production, and photography.
Excellent organisational and event management skills, with acute attention to detail.
Understanding of marketing operations.
