Project Engineer

The Project Engineer will support the project team in the execution of construction projects. Further, he or she will carry out construction administrative functions, organization of project communications, office management items, and support the project team in the execution and coordination under the supervision of the Head of projects.

Duties and responsibilities

Coordinate Project Management activities, resources, equipment and information
Deal with the logistics of supplies, schedule the sequence of works, and plans for construction, and account for the provision of materials.
Handle project administration, including cost control, schedule control, and change order administration.
Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders.
Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes, and maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; and complying with legal regulations.
Correspond with consultants and Project Manager regarding all contract discrepancies or adjustments as required, ensuring any specialty materials are ordered in advance in order to meet deadlines
Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
Collaborates with the Project Lead and other operational support to develop an accurate project plan.
Analyze risks and opportunities while advising the management and the client on the best option.
Develop work programs on the basis of amended plans, cash flow charts, weekly material consumption graphs and any other working methods
Issue all appropriate legal paperwork (e.g. contracts and terms of the agreement) while ensuring statutory compliance during all phases of the projects
Compiles daily job cost reports to ensure the cost and quantity align with the budget Create project schedules that include materials estimates and manpower needs to be shared with the management.
Prepare the final account of the projects and check of final accounts issued by the sub-contractors alongside the Project QS.
Advise management of deficiency investigation results, provide prevention solutions and ensure compliance of policies to eliminate all deficiencies

Qualifications

BSc in Civil / Structural Engineering/ Building and Construction(ERB registration an asset)
Minimum 5 years working experience as a Project Coordinator
Computer competency (MS Office Applications)
A thorough technical understanding of building construction methods
Excellent command of oral and written English and Kiswahili
Good customer service skills
Organizational and analytical skills
Team player
