Role overview
The Research Manager will be the primary contact for clients allocated to his / her portfolio. The Research Manager is responsible for developing existing and new client relationships and guiding the research team to ensure the quality and profitability of all aspects of projects and achieving his/her sales targets. The Research Manager is also responsible for providing strategic input on project design and analysis, managing and training the research team.
What will I be doing?
Develop the research business amongst existing clients, and by identifying and developing new business opportunities outside the existing client base by embracing the Ipsos win and retain approach to business development
Design appropriate research solutions to drive meaningful insight into clients’ needs and their business
Apply an expert level of knowledge and understanding of your clients and their business in all interactions with
clients, particularly regarding deliverables and analysis
Drive continuous development and career progression of people directly managed
Guide the setting of clear, motivational and measurable development objectives for people, and regularly
review performance versus objectives
Maximize individual and team performance through effective people management
Lead performance management processes, as and when required
What do I need to bring with me?
A strong technical understanding of research and evaluation, and are able to design and implement projects
You have a minimum 5 years’ experience in a development context, with a strong component of research and / or evaluation at the management level (experience in conducting fieldwork only would not qualify here).
If you are working in M&E you must have executed external evaluations for other organizations.
Experience of the Africa region
Experience in private services sector such as in the development consulting world
And the ability to manage the development of, and contribute to, the highlevel analysis of the underlining factors driving the situation in a range of development sectors

You are disciplined and able to work and arrive at decisions autonomously with minimal guidance, and deliver high standard research reports, data and analysis to strict deadlines
