Accounts Assistant – Lodwar

Role overview:

To provide accounting support to ensure accuracy of all finance transactions related to the project and to manage all financial aspects of projects from budget preparation to project closure.

Responsibilities:
 

Track and record all project transactions in a timely manner
Conduct reconciliation of project accounts monthly
Compete monthly, quarterly and annual report in a timely manner
Prepare budget and cash flow forecasts
Prepare and review monthly transactions in a timely fashion.
Prepare and review monthly reserves statement for each project, and review for exceptions
Ensure all transactions are supported by adequate documentation, approval and that documentation is filed and retained in a suitable way
Ensure internal year-end deadlines are met, and transactions are accrued in a timely fashion at this stage if required. Ensure that all accruals are reviewed periodically and settled especially before project closure.
Produce monthly reporting to the finance lead, ensuring accuracy
Produce financial analysis as required by the project team to assist decision-making.
Manage day to day to finances, including processing invoices, expenditures etc. in collaboration with project teams.
With support from Head of finance, support the audit team in conducting audit.
Provide any needed support to achieving the organizational mission.

Person Specifications
Education, Language & Qualifications

Qualified accountant CPA or currently pursuing CPA
Excellent oral and written communication in English

Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience

Substantial (minimum 1year) experience in a relevant role

Demonstrable and significant experience of the following;

Creating and implanting good financial practice and controls, including transaction reviews and adjustments
Balance sheet reconciliations and monthly checks and balances
Working on multiple projects
Working knowledge of Quick books accounting software and Microsoft office especially Excel and Word
A strong commitment to FoLT’s values
Ability to build good working relationships with non-finance staff
Ability to work as part of a team
Takes initiative, charge and proactively seeks new ideas, experiments with new processes/practices that capitalizes on opportunities
