HM/HW Handler Technician (Hazardous Material/Waste)

POSITION REPORT TO:

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for and support Hazardous Waste Storage Area (HWSA) Operations Team, including but not limited to Oil and Hazardous Substances (OHS) Spill Incidents responses, cleanup, and waste handling.
Responsible for and support processing of bulk waste collected from Vehicle maintenance areas including but not limited to BSVE, PACAF Transportation, PACAF AGE, Port Operations and Power Generation areas.
Responsible for Preparation, packaging, and documentation support for off-Island excess HM and generated HW disposal shipment.
Be computer literate, including MS word processing, Excel spreadsheets, power-point, etc.
Be environmentally motivated, and with a strong desire to be a Team player.
Be committed to Continuous Development, quality process improvement and take all opportunities for further education and training.
Support other Annex and Team operational duties as assigned.

 BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to clearly convey information to individuals and clients.
Proven ability to organize, prioritize and follow-through to completion on multiple tasks, under strict deadlines and changing priorities with minimum supervision.
Good administrative, organizational, and computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point presentations.
Provides excellent customer service to support the Clients, Island Tenants, and KBR missions.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and Operators License for up to 10k Forklift or other mechanical heavy Equipment (MHE) and Vehicles.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

Oral and Written English Communication.
Training and/or experience in the management of a HazMat/HazWaste derived from Vehicle Maintenance and/or Power Generation facilities, sampling and analyses of HazMat/HazWaste processes.
Successful completion of 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), or 32-hour equivalent training that meets Hazardous materials and waste handling and emergency spills responses training requirements.
Requisite training and qualification that meets or exceeds processing and handling for disposal of bulk.
HM/HW collected from Vehicle maintenance and Power Generation areas including incidental OHS spills.

EDUCATION:

A minimum of two-year Diploma/Certification in a Vocational or Technical discipline such as Automotive Technology with pertinent experience handling waste derived from Vehicle maintenance/auto mechanic and power generation or other related discipline and experience.
A BS in Environmental Science, Chemistry or other related discipline from an accredited university or college is preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

At least two (2) years’ experience and prior involvement related to the operations and management of Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste derived from Vehicle maintenance and Power Generation areas collection, transportation, storage, handling, and disposal.

Basic terms of the job offer.

Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance and project status.
Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $684.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday,

will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.

Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.

Other requirements

Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.
Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months (unless processing for a CDL-required position, which will require 12 months remaining).
