Your mission at Sistema.bio
Reporting to the Technical Operations manager, the Carbon and Impact Regional Associate is core to Sistema.bio’s carbon projects in the region, in this case Africa. The Associate will work on a broad range of activities related to carbon project registration, certification and implementation and provide full support in managing the end-to-end carbon development and issuance cycles.
You’ll be in charge of:
Monitoring and tracking implementation progress on carbon projects.
Identifying reporting needs by project and generating timely reports for clients, funders, and carbon certifiers regularly as needed.
Working with the Global Carbon and Impact team and the local Commercial and TechOps teams on all the requirements needed to comply with registering, certifying and monitoring projects under Gold Standard or other carbon registries. This includes support:
Organizing local stakeholder consultations
Coordinating baseline and monitoring data collection campaigns
Providing inputs for project design documents, local stakeholder consultation reports and monitoring reports as needed
Coordinating remote or onsite auditing visits
Providing technical training to Commercial and TechOps team members implementing carbon projects on the ground to ensure projects meet the highest quality standards to generate reliable and measurable carbon credits and other impact statements.
More about YOU
Possess a Bachelors or Master’s in Economics, Business Administration, Sustainability, Public Policy, Environmental Engineering.
1-3 years of technical work experience in registration and issuance cycles of carbon projects in the community service sector.
Relevant regional level professional experience, preferably working for a developmental organization, NGO, consultancy, project developer, and/or auditor in the field of community level projects development and execution.
Experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
Proficient in the use of MS office is required.
Strong professional verbal, written, visual communication and presentation skills.
Written and oral proficiency and literacy in English language and fluency in local language.
Demonstrated passion for the climate change movement.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a strong team culture and build and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Must be comfortable self-managing multiple priorities concurrently, thrive in the face of change and uncertainty, and be motivated to drive projects forward.
