Information Technology Officer

Job Description Details:

Technical Support: Provide technical support to the Team by assisting them with hardware and software issues, troubleshooting problems, and resolving technical issues promptly.
IT Documentation: Keep thorough records and documentation of IT systems, maintaining and updating the IT department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) configurations, and procedures, making it easy for other team members to understand and use the systems.
Network Administration: Oversee and maintain the organization’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity. This may involve configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and ensuring network security.
System Administration: Manage servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization’s operating systems as well as monitoring system performance and ensuring data backups.
Hardware and Software Maintenance: Manage and maintain computer hardware and software, ensuring that all systems are up to date and operational.
Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor security protocols, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems, to protect the organization’s data and systems from cyber threats.
User Account Management: Create and manage user accounts, assign access permissions, and ensure proper user authentication and authorization.
Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to employees on how to use technology effectively and safely, including cybersecurity best practices.
Software Installation and Updates: Install, update, and maintain software applications across the organization. Ensure that software is properly licensed and compliant with regulations.
IT Procurement: Assist in the procurement of IT equipment and software by researching, evaluating, and recommending technology solutions that align with the organization’s needs and budget.
Disaster Recovery and Backup: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, including regular data backups and testing to ensure data recovery in case of system failures or data loss.

Qualifications Requirements:

Education: Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in various operating systems, networking, and IT infrastructure components. Knowledge of hardware, software, and troubleshooting is essential.
Certifications: Relevant industry certifications are a strong asset. Certifications may include but not limited to: Certified data professional (CDP), Certified cloud security professional (CCSP), Certified data privacy solutions engineer (CDPSE), Project management professional (PMP), Certified information security manager (CISM) and Certified information systems security professional (CISSP)
Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with non-technical staff and explaining complex technical concepts in simple terms.
Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
Security Awareness: A good understanding of cybersecurity principles and the ability to implement security measures effectively.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organization and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Teamwork: The ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with colleagues from different departments.
Adaptability: IT Officers should be adaptable and stay updated with the latest technology trends and best practices.
