General responsibilities:
Strategic Guidance
Provide an external perspective on the company’s strategic plans, offering insights based on industry knowledge and experience.
Participate actively in discussions related to business strategy, growth opportunities, and market trends.
Governance Oversight
Uphold high standards of corporate governance by ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Participate in board meetings, contribute to discussions, and make informed decisions on matters that impact the organization’s performance and direction.
Risk Management
Identify potential risks to the company’s reputation, finances, and operations, and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
Monitor and assess risk management processes to ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are in place.
Financial Oversight
Review and assess financial reports, statements, and budgets to ensure financial health and sustainability of the company.
Contribute insights to financial discussions, including capital allocation, investment decisions, and financial strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement
Represent the company to external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and industry partners.
Foster positive relationships and maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders.
Leadership and Mentorship
Act as a mentor and advisor to the executive team, leveraging your industry expertise to support their professional development.
Offer guidance to the CEO and management team while respecting their operational responsibilities.
Ethical Standards
Uphold the highest ethical standards and act as a role model for ethical behavior and integrity within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend quarterly board and committee meetings, annual field visits, strategy sessions and other meetings as required from time to time
Take up a role on Board Committee(s) of the Board as needed
Be an active participant in board meetings, bringing challenge, support, diversity of thought and teamwork
Take a long-term view and act as a steward of the health of the Company, promoting the Company’s longterm success
Establish and approve the Company’s strategy and objectives, and monitor the alignment of the Company’s purpose, strategy and values with the desired culture
Monitor Company performance
Set the Company’s risk appetite and monitor its risk profile
Approve and monitor capital and operating plans for achieving strategic objectives
Approve material transactions
Stay well informed and fully engaged with all major issues that affect the Company
Act as a credible, compelling external face for the business when required
Participate in reviews and appraisals of the performance of the Board and individual directors
Profile 1 – Requirements:
The ideal candidate is a senior financial services professional with extensive retail credit experience
Has relevant and extensive experience in Retail Credit Risk Management; specifically in development and review of product programs, schemes, policies and guidelines
Ideally has experience working in Digital Financial Services sectors in Africa or other emerging markets
Experience in MSME Banking is an added advantage.
Experience living and working in Africa extensively, is an added advantage.
Has a strategic outlook and ability to refine, communicate and execute business strategy
Has excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to set and communicate direction, build strong external relationships and credibility
Passionate about our mission of upgrading lives and making financial services more accessible.
Profile 2 – Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in technology and digital
Experience in the FinTech or financial services industry is a plus.
Has experience driving strategic product direction, potentially in CPO or VP/Head of Product role, including product vision, design, and development
Has experience building out and scaling a tech/product team
Experience living and working in Africa extensively, is an added advantage.

Has excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to set and communicate direction, build strong external relationships and credibility
