Activity Background:
SoCha is seeking a Strategic Communications Expert to guide USAID’s communications engagement in the Mashujaa Day celebrations through the Communications Technical Working Group (TWG) and contribute to the delivery of the Mashujaa Day Communications Strategy objectives.
The Strategic Communications Expert will:
Represent USAID at Communications TWG meetings and discussions.
Collaborate closely with members of the communications TWG which includes representatives from NHIF, Ministry of Health, the State House, PATH, and other partners to design and implement communications actions before, during, and after the Mashujaa Day Celebration
Advise USAID- Health Population and Nutrition Office on potential USAID contributions to support Universal Health Care (UHC) communications efforts that strategically highlight USAID’s support for expanded UHC in Kenya
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree (A Master’s degree is highly recommended) in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Behavior Change Communications.
Additional qualifications: professional certifications, or extensive experience in the field of health communications and behavioral science/studies.
Strong strategic communication skills, including written and verbal proficiency, are crucial.
Ability to craft and disseminate a range of high quality and engaging products in English in a range of media.
Knowledge of multi-media outlets in Kenya, those best outlets to reach various targeted audience segments.
Kenya health context and strong understanding of Kenyan public health sector
Previous work experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating health communications programs or campaigns within the public health sector or development organizations is highly desirable. This experience could involve working with communities, healthcare providers, or other stakeholders to develop and implement evidence-based communication strategies.
