Programme Coordinator (79930) LSTM Kenya

This Programme Coordinator role is a new post within the team, due to the recent expansion of programme activities. The successful post holder will provide effective management and administrative support to designated programme activities, to ensure the smooth running of operations at study sites.  The ideal candidate should be able to work well in a diverse, multinational research team. Key responsibilities include managing contracts and budgets, coordinating with suppliers and logistics, producing reports for funders, and ensuring compliance with research governance and ethics requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Support: You will act as the main point of contact for the financial and contractual aspects of designated programmes, specifically with funders on contractual agreements, and with partners on subcontracts and consultancies.  This could include for example, negotiating and setting up overarching budgets and defining scopes of work. You will support the Programme Manager and Principal Investigator(s) (PIs) to review and adapt project plans, track progress, and assist the Programme teams to achieve deliverables on time, on budget and within scope, whilst mitigating risk.
Administrative support: You will also work closely with programme and procurement teams to coordinate with suppliers and logistics companies to ensure goods are shipped or delivered to destinations on time. You will also be producing reports to funders and develop communication and dissemination strategies for project-related materials, websites, and publications.
Financial Support: Work with Institutional Accountants to compile detailed budgets for specific activities and grant applications to ensure they are in accordance with funder terms and conditions and are eligible costs. You will also work closely with these teams, to undertake financial administration, including the review of orders, invoices, and expense claims, ensuring appropriate records and evidence are maintained.
Communications: Ensure effective integration and communication between multiple projects.
Liaise with international partners to ensure all logistical requirements are in place for programme activities. Work in tandem with LSTM Kenya Programme Manager and Study Coordinators to develop standard operating procedures to ensure consistency across programmes. Work closely with Research Governance and Ethics teams to ensure all relevant approvals are in place and filed, to include schedules for follow up and renewals. 
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to work as an integral and cooperative member of a multi-disciplinary, multicultural and multinational research team.

The candidate will also ideally demonstrate:

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in public health, business, communications, or relevant field
Previous experience in project coordination of community projects or clinical research projects
Specific experience in overseeing, developing, and/or coordinating research projects
Experience of working under pressure.  Proven ability of working to tight targets and deadlines with ability to prioritise against multiple deadlines and manage projects at various stages of maturity
Proven ability to monitor and manage a budget and prepare accurate costings, projections, and financial reports
Experience of contracting procedures, developing workplans and timelines for monitoring partners and budgets
