Technical Advisor, Nutrition Governance & Social Protection

About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled and dedicated Technical Advisor to provide strategic support and technical expertise to our program planning and management efforts. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Program Director, HQ staff, and regional/country offices to drive initiatives that enhance nutrition governance and promote collaboration across units. Your contributions will play a vital role in advancing nutrition-sensitive social protection and related areas.
Key responsibilities include:

Collaborate with the Program Director, HQ teams, and regional/country offices to assess and analyze Nutrition Governance performance through system evaluations, context analyses, and political-economy studies.
Manage and oversee external consultants, ensuring the successful execution of deliverables to strengthen Nutrition Governance and integrate nutrition issues into key sectors such as Health and Social Protection.
Contribute to the development of guidance, best practices, and tools related to Nutrition Governance and Nutrition-Sensitive Social Protection, based on international evidence.
Support the conceptualization and potential launch of an NI Nutrition Governance Initiative, applying governance and systems approaches to nutrition-sensitive initiatives.
Craft terms of reference (TORs) for grants and contracts, negotiating as necessary to ensure successful collaborations.
Monitor progress and ensure the effective delivery of goods/services within managed contracts, maintaining technical oversight.
Foster collaboration across units and teams to enhance NI’s visibility in the Nutrition Governance and related fields.
Assist in preparing internal/external communications, technical products, and presentations that showcase NI’s work and guide approaches.
Fact-check technical content in public-facing materials like web content, briefs, presentations, and blogs.
Contribute inputs to concept notes and funding proposals for donors in coordination with the Business Development team.
Generate evidence and promote thought leadership to encourage innovation in nutrition programs, both within core and non-core countries.
Support donor reporting activities, including coordination and completion of reports for smaller grants.
Cultivate and nurture external relationships and partnerships within the subject areas to enhance NI’s profile.

About you  

University degree, preferably in nutrition, nutrition systems, development economics, or health sciences; master’s degree or higher preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in roles related to public policy, governance, and program design, particularly within public health, nutrition, or social protection domains.
Demonstrated cross-sector collaboration experience to enhance public policies and program development.
Strong analytical knowledge of international development, economics, and public health/nutrition.
Proficiency in finance, budgeting, contracts, and project management.
Fluent in written and spoken English (required); working proficiency in other major languages is a plus.
Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and communication abilities.
Detail-oriented with meticulous precision.
Skilled in organization, administration, research, numerical analysis, and conceptual thinking.
Independent worker with effective interpersonal skills and cross-cultural exposure.
