Legal Assistant

Reporting to the Head of Legal, the overall purpose of the job is to provide overall legal expertise and support on legal issues relating to the functions, structures and activities of the Hospital and support management on issues pertaining to legal and regulatory framework and monitor compliance with legal and regulatory corporate governance requirements in order to minimize legal costs and safeguard the hospital’s interests.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Document Preparation – Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, including contracts, agreements, subpoenas, pleadings, and correspondence. Ensure accuracy and adherence to established legal guidelines.
Research and Analysis – Conduct legal research using various resources, such as online databases and legal publications, to gather information and support the legal team in their decision-making process.
Case Management – Assist in managing legal cases by organizing and maintaining case files, retrieving relevant documents, and tracking important deadlines and court appearances.
Meeting Support- Coordinate and schedule legal department meetings, compile meeting agendas, and take Minutes during legal discussions.
Record Keeping – Maintain organized and up-to-date legal records and databases, ensuring easy access to critical information when required.
Teamwork and collaboration- Work objectively with the hospital staff in driving the hospital strategic objectives.
Administrative Support – Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including managing calendars, answering phone calls, handling correspondence, and maintaining office supplies.
Policy Review – Participate in the review and update of hospital policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
Legal Updates – Stay informed and advise on changes in relevant laws and regulations that may impact the hospital and its operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB)
Admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya
Minimum of 1 year working experience post admission
Experience in Contract drafting and document preparation
Must have valid membership and hold a valid Practicing Certificate.
Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Evidence of proficiency in computer applications; such as Excel and PowerPoint Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
