POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role involves overseeing the daily medical care of outpatients while providing guidance and training to junior medical staff. The Medical Officer is tasked with initiating outpatient care and evaluations, maintaining close communication with lead surgeons to address any critical changes in a patient’s condition, and seeking expert input on treatment and management strategies.

Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the Medical Officer’s established clinical practice guidelines, as dictated by operational requirements.
Examine pertinent pathology, radiology, and other diagnostic reports, then relay key findings to the primary surgeon.
Precisely document the patient’s medical record, including their history, physical examination findings, treatment plans, diagnostic tests conducted, and all actions undertaken.
Assists in organizing and streamlining care coordination efforts to enhance patient throughput within the facility.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of both outpatient and inpatient cases in collaboration with the pertinent residents and/or primary surgeons.
Commence and oversee the diagnostic process and ongoing management of the patient’s health, which involves requesting essential radiology and pathology investigations, administering suitable medications, and facilitating specialist referrals as needed.
Deliver concise, on-the-spot educational sessions tailored to junior medical personnel.
Maintain regular and clear communication with the patient and/or their immediate family regarding their medical status and ongoing care.
Maintain the Medical Officer’s active license at all times.
Overseeing critical clinical support functions, this role encompasses management of Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Nutritional Services.
Overseeing the performance and activities of all clinical officers employed at the facility constitutes a primary responsibility.
Engage actively in departmental quality management initiatives, ensuring adherence to established Hospital Quality standards throughout all processes.
Perform various additional tasks as assigned, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational needs. Support team objectives by contributing to projects beyond core responsibilities, maintaining flexibility to address urgent or evolving priorities. Uphold professional standards while executing supplementary assignments that enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness within the department.

Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business administration or finance, and a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in project management or a related discipline. Proficiency in project management software, such as MS Project or Asana, is required, along with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in leading cross-functional teams are highly desirable.
MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) or an equivalent medical degree is required.
Registered with the Medical Council of Kenya as a medical officer.
A background in leadership and management, whether through formal education or practical experience, is highly beneficial.
