The role will primarily involve serving as permanent, pensionable teaching staff, with the added responsibility of holding the Dean of School position under a three-year, renewable contract. Reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities to ensure efficient operational performance. This includes managing key tasks, coordinating team efforts, and maintaining high standards of productivity and quality. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, it requires strong communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders, clients, and team members while adhering to established policies and procedures. Compliance with industry regulations and company guidelines is essential to uphold organizational integrity and achieve strategic objectives.

Responsible for developing and implementing the School’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and long-term objectives. This role involves analyzing current performance, identifying growth opportunities, and establishing measurable targets to drive continuous improvement. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with key stakeholders to gather insights, solicit feedback, and foster a shared vision for the School’s future.

Overseeing instruction and assessment to guarantee courses are delivered punctually, meet established standards, and are fully comprehensive, while maintaining the integrity of examinations.

Managing and monitoring student and staff attendance records constitutes a core responsibility of this position.

Responsible for strategic planning, allocation, and management of resources to ensure optimal utilization, encompassing both human and physical assets.

The role focuses on maintaining the School’s sustainability by enhancing student retention, ensuring cohort completion, optimizing progression rates, and expanding the student population.

Spearheading research initiatives and fostering innovation within the School.

Guiding and motivating teams to excel in grant and proposal writing initiatives within the School.

Developing and overseeing strategic industry partnerships, collaborations, and alliances to foster mutually beneficial relationships and drive collective growth.

Spearheading the School’s internationalization initiatives, encompassing the expansion of program offerings, diversification of student nationalities, and enhancement of international exposure for both students and staff through structured exchange programs.

Providing exceptional customer service to students and staff, with a focus on promptly addressing and resolving their concerns.

Overseeing team members, which encompasses evaluating their performance, monitoring work attendance, administering leave requests, and handling disciplinary matters.

Responsible for directing the development and evaluation of academic programs, ensuring that offerings align with evolving market demands and the strategic growth objectives of the School.

Enforcing and upholding the established policies of the University is a key responsibility, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and regulations across all departments and operations.

Developing and executing initiatives aimed at enhancing graduate employability on an ongoing basis.

Performs any additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Seeking a candidate with a proven track record in the field, possessing relevant certifications and a minimum of five years of hands-on experience. The ideal applicant will demonstrate expertise through formal education in a related discipline and a history of successfully managing complex projects. Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to continuous learning are essential. Fluency in industry-specific tools and methodologies, along with the capacity to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, is required. Prior leadership or mentorship experience is highly desirable.

A relevant PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited and recognized university is required.

A minimum of three years of higher education experience, specifically in teaching or research roles such as a Lecturer or Research Fellow, is required.

Demonstrates a proven track record of scholarly contributions through published works while serving in the capacity of a Lecturer or Research Fellow.

Demonstrated leadership and administrative proficiency is essential. Candidates with prior roles such as Department Head or Chair, program leader, postgraduate coordinator, or equivalent managerial experience will be given strong preference.

Oversaw the successful completion of at least two postgraduate students’ programs.

Secured substantial research funding as a Lecturer and Research Fellow.

Presents a documented history of active participation in academic conferences, seminars, or workshops, demonstrating meaningful engagement.

You may exhibit your impact on university life by engaging actively in departmental and school initiatives, meetings, providing academic guidance to students, and serving on committees, among other responsibilities.

Membership in an appropriate professional organization is required.
