Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Conservation Strategy, Impact & Learning (SVP, CSI&L), the CPM will support the SVP in coordinating project implementation within AWF, ensuring that conservation actions are well planned, scheduled and executed. One of the CPM’s key functions will be to highlight potential implementation issues on a monthly basis and obtain the necessary engagement from AWF’s team to assist in preventing or resolving any issues. The position will also lead strategic programme planning to promote an approach that builds constructive collaboration between various teams which will lead to conservation impact in alignment with AWF’s new values and 10-year strategic plan.
Responsibilities
Project Management Leadership
Support supervisor in the development and implementation of project specific and broad organizational, strategies to facilitate project
Enhance and or design and implement internal best practices for the consistent application of management practices in the context of project Develop systems to facilitate good management disciplines, and systems to track manager performance.
Ensure that project managers and landscape leaders use the appropriate project management systems and tools.
Build, maintain and improve systems for collecting programmatic means of verification (MOVs).
Foster collaborative problem solving within the organization in the context of project
With the various landscape managers and directors, coordinate the creation of detailed project plans at the task and subtask Convert detailed project plans into Gantt charts, inclusive of task dependencies, date constraints, schedules, and resources.
Ensure that all programing is in line with AWF’s Rights Based Conservation.
Supervise the Project Management Assistant and others as may be assigned.
Represent AWF at relevant forums.
Reporting and Adaptive Management
Provide project management reports to the SVP and relevant project managers including Summary Reports, Task Slippage and Slack Reports, Scheduling Report, Procurement Needs Report, and Budget Changes
Review implementation issues with SVP and project As needed, schedule a technical response team to engage and problem-solve.
In cases of task slippage, analyze impacts from a financial and conservation standpoint and recommend the appropriate adaptive management
Provide a quarterly report summarizing the overall project implementation status (positive and negative).
Ensure that donor programmatic reporting is produced timely, is of high technical quality, and is well
Undertake any other relevant tasks as may be assigned.
Desired Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Project Management or other field related to conservation
At least 7 years’ experience in data management, development operations
Excellent knowledge of data management software and systems
Project Management experience. PMP certification is a strong advantage.
Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Strong facilitation and organization skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary and cultural environment.
Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to build coalitions, negotiate, and manage conflict situations.
Outstanding communication skills with ability to clarify strategy.
Willingness and ability to travel sometimes to remote and physically challenging locations.
Knowledge of French is desired.
Knowledge of AWF and strong interest in Conservation
