Activities:
Oversee the financial operations of the business, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across Kenya, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, DRC.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws in the countries where we operate
Manage the accounting team, including hiring, training, and supervising staff
Prepare and present accurate financial reports to senior management and external stakeholders
Develop and maintain financial systems, processes, and controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Monitor cash flow, prepare budgets, and forecast financial performance
Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data is accurate and relevant to business operations
Manage relationships with banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other external stakeholders
Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and laws affecting our business
Competencies & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification preferred
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or related field, including experience in a managerial role
Experience in Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and DRC accounting regulations and practices. US experience a plus.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards
