About The Role
As an Inclusive Economies Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:
Support the overall Inclusive Economies business plan and develop engagement strategies with different stakeholders in the region. Support TRF work in the region and input into TRF global activities, bringing local expertise that will inform and enhance our work at the global level. Provide expertise and support the team to deliver Inclusive Economies activities on donor-funded projects in the region, including:
Working closely with members of the project team across TRF and inputting into project-wide workplans from an IE perspective.
Ensuring inclusive economies project related work is done on time, within budget, to the agreed scope and to a high quality.
Develop and implement the Inclusive Economies regional tax practice program:
Design and deliver convenings on responsible tax practices with a diverse range of stakeholders to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practice. Key topics covered will include local tax systems, the OECD’s Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting, Tax fairness and the effectiveness of domestic public finance systems.
Scope and support the development of new products such as multistakeholder training on transparent, efficient, and fair tax systems and the Addis Tax Initiative.
Support the programme team with reporting internally and externally on progress, including to donors.
Working closely with the Inclusive Economies team and Business Development team, you will be scoping opportunities and developing concepts and proposals for funding in this new area of work and other IE areas of priority.
About You
To be considered for the Inclusive Economies Manager at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will have:
Be an experienced specialist in transparency, accountability with strong understanding of domestic tax systems in Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda (5+ years).
Have good understanding of the legal and non-profit sectors in the target countries and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities businesses and policy makers face with exiting taxation frameworks.
Have a good understanding on how to tackle tax avoidance, policies on more transparent tax environment and tax challenges arising from the digitalization of the economy.
Have excellent research, drafting and analytical skills, including experience both developing and reviewing reports.
Have experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, from senior corporate executives and partners of tax firms to social entrepreneurs, NGOs and donors.
Be a strong team player with experience managing and supporting a team to achieve results.
Bring experience in developing and delivering trainings, workshops, and events on legal and tax topics.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to manage multiple priorities at once, with a high degree of creative and flexible thinking
