About the Role
The Global Seed Supply Chain Coordinator ensures that high-quality seed is purchased at a cost-efficient, market-determined & compliant manner and is delivered on time through execution excellence.
Your role is part of the Global Supply Chain Division – Agriculture Purchasing Team. You will complete market research to identify suitable products, coordinate warehouse deliveries, support quality assurance controls, and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure high service levels.
You will report to a senior Seed Purchasing Coordinator onsite in Nairobi, Kenya
Responsibilities
Inputs Procurement (50% of Role):
Develop external relationships with mid-level suppliers and support high-level supplier relationships.
Contact both domestic and international suppliers and transporters to get price quotations and negotiate the best possible prices for seed delivery to country programs
Place orders with suppliers for seed inputs, working with internal departments to ensure suppliers’ payments are completed on time and with the accurate amount
Coordinate all deliveries from supplier warehouse to country warehouses, ensuring cost-effective and timely international and national deliveries
Maintain a database of local suppliers and understand which inputs they carry, their pricing, and any supply issues OAF has had with the supplier
Conduct RFQs for all seed products that are not single-sourced.
Every dollar saved in purchasing enables more farmer families to have access to high-quality seeds to improve their yield and grow out of poverty.
Internal Coordination (25% of Role):
Work with country teams to understand their input needs before each season, specifically, quantities required, delivery timelines, warehouse allocations
Work with the One Acre Fund Logistics team to ensure correct timely deliveries of high-quality inputs, and management of inventoried inputs from season to season
Work with the SC systems & Ops team to ensure on-time payments, efficient inventory transfer and tracking in SAP
Coordinate with the country Government Relations team to ensure compliance with all products procured
Certification & Quality Assurance (15% of Role):
Ensure all seed is certified to the country’s standards before distribution to farmers
Assist in facilitating internal seed quality testing for all Kenya seed purchases.
Manage and track all certification documentation for seed purchases
Ensuring loading QC is done for all seed purchases
Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have the following:
At least 2+ years of supply chain or procurement expertise
A minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field
English fluency required
Basic Seed mastery: processing, quality control, country standards & industry understanding. Understanding of the Southern and East Africa seed systems
Experience creating relationships with clients or vendors
Experience leading negotiations and data-driven decision-making
