Consultant – Rehabilitation (Basic Package of Rehabilitation Interventions)

Purpose of consultancy
To finalize and implement a basic package of rehabilitation interventions that serves the integration of rehabilitation into primary care.
Deliverables
Objective 1: To complete the drafting, design and review process for the Basic Rehabilitation Package – Manual and Implementation Guide.
Outputs:

1.1: Complete first draft of the Basic Rehabilitation Package Manual and Implementation Guide.
1.2: Facilitate expert review of product and integrate feedback.
1.3: Manage the finalization process, including the design and publication of the resource.

Objective 2: To contribute to the pilot testing of the Basic Rehabilitation Package in countries.
Outputs:

2.1: Provide input to the planning of pilots and provide detailed guidance to partners to contribute to planning in countries, including creation of mentoring mechanisms for trainees.  
2.2: Develop a detailed training outline, trainers’ guidance and training materials, mentors’ guidance and a trainee workbook.
2.3: Deliver trainings to primary care workers and facilitate their review of training and mentoring programme.

Objective 3: To contribute to the development of the Online Training Materials that will accompany the product.
Outputs:

3.1: Develop outline and plan for development of all online training materials. 
3.2: Draft the online training materials. 

Qualifications, experience, skills and languages
Educational Qualifications:
Essential:

Advanced university degree in a rehabilitation science, such as rehabilitation medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, or similar field.  

Experience
Essential:

Over 5 years of experience in rehabilitation.
Demonstrated experience in project management and collaboration.
Previous experience working with primary care.
Demonstrated experience writing scientific publications.
Experience working in low- or middle-income countries on implementation of projects/programmes related to rehabilitation or public health.

Desirable:

Demonstrated experience in writing technical documents.
Previous experience with WHO or other UN agencies.

Skills/Knowledge:
Essential:

Advanced technical knowledge in public health and rehabilitation.
Excellent skills in evidence synthesis and appraisal.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Languages required:
Essential:  

Expert knowledge of English.
