Quality Assurance Manager

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position’s key responsibilities are:

End to end development, implementation and certification of quality management systems across all functions.
Ensure one hundred per cent quality assurance of raw and packaging materials, processes and finished products.
Maintain internationally accepted level of accuracy and documentation of materials, processes, methods and tested samples when benchmarked against other laboratories.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible and accountable for the following Core job elements:

Direct, oversee and manage the Quality Assurance (QA) and support research and development (R&D) functions of the organization.
Develop a quality culture within the organization by training multifunctional teams on quality requirements, recruiting and supervising qualified and talented quality personnel.
Ensure proper use of analytical equipment like HPLC, GLC and other wet chemistry testing tools. Responsible for data origination, interpretation, presentation and recommendations for each category of results.
Monitor all operations and processes that affect quality. Supervise and guide analysts, inspectors, technicians and other laboratory staff.
Ensure proper use, security, safety, maintenance and calibration of QA lab equipment.
Document procedures and processes that are required for company and laboratory certification to quality management systems (QMS) ISO 9001:2015 and other applicable process systems.
Design sampling, storage and inspection procedures that ensure efficient testing of raw materials, in process samples, finished products while ensuring traceability.
Co-ordinate sampling, testing, monitoring, evaluation, documentation and reporting of the quality assurance activities in a manufacturing environment. Ensure quality data accuracy.
Appraise customer requirements, participate in the investigation of product quality related market complaints and ensure their satisfactory resolution.

EDUCATION AND COLLATERAL REQUIREMENTS:

BSc in Chemistry or related field from a recognized university.
A master’s degree in analytical chemistry or Industrial chemistry preferred.
Eight (8) or more years of experience in a busy QC laboratory with hands on experience in raw and packing material testing, in-process testing, finished products testing and certification. Experience with a variety of testing equipment required.
Thorough knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and standards. Experienced, conversant with instrumental analysis, wet chemistry, microbiological and physical analysis including accurate interpretation of results of internal and outsourced analysis.
Knowledgeable about all safety standards that are customary within the biotechnology extraction and refining industry.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Sound knowledge of GMP, GLP, analysis. Is conversant with biotechnology product regulations and implementation of quality management system, troubleshooting and root cause investigation experience.
Self-starter. Meets tight deadlines and exhibit a high degree of flexibility and versatility. Has strong organizational and planning skills. Works on multiple projects and adapts to changing priorities.
Strong leadership and communication skills. Quality leadership skills with demonstrated track record dealing with first principles such as integrity.
