Graphic Designer, USAID Communication for Development Support

Responsibilities

Develop and package outreach materials such as conventional print publications, flyers, posters, banners, and multi-media presentations for exclusive and specific use by the USAID C4D Support Project, USAID Kenya and East Africa, and other U.S. government agencies as necessary.
Develop derivative products such as social media infographics, GIFs, and banners.
Assist with digital retouching and image production.
Edit publications in the final phases of development, including Kenya and East Africa calendars, factsheets, and county brochures.
Select appropriate layouts for products in coordination with the USAID C4D team.
Provide proofs to ensure product quality prior to printing and/or publication.
Ensure the communication materials produced have the desired impact on the target audience.
Ensure materials compliance with 508 compliance requirements for visually impaired readership.
Develop publication layouts for online-friendly format(s).
Liaise with printing services to ensure high quality printing of abovementioned publications.
Other graphic design support as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, design, communications, or a relevant field is required.
Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in graphic design is required.
Experience with non-governmental organizations, donors and/or agency, or mass media is preferred.
Experience working and traveling in Kenya and understanding of Kenyan culture, geography and development issues is preferred.
Experience in conducting trainings on social media content development is preferred.
Knowledge of graphic fundamentals, typography, print, layouts, and web design.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other design software is preferred.
Strong written and verbal fluency in English is required.
