The School comprises two semi-autonomous Schools: the Preparatory school for pupils between of ages of 3 – 13 and the Senior School for pupils between the ages of 13-18. The School Laundry Supervisor is a whole school appointment and is responsible to the Facility Manager in the Facility/Operations Department. S/he will work closely with the Laundry team in Controls and oversees all laundry operators, laundry supplies and materials to ensure maximum efficiency in performance in the Laundry Department.
Main Responsibilities
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in receiving, sorting, washing, and ironing clothes or linen in laundry;
Ensure daily work target is achieved;
Determines sequence of work scheduled to provide quick and efficient service to students and to regulate workloads;
Ensuring that all personnel who are in your area have the proper Personal Protective Equipment and work equipment. Where this has not been satisfied, notify the Facility Manager/HR department for immediate action;
Ensures safe work practices by directing staff to wear protective equipment, conducting accident investigations, instructing in the proper use of tools.
Monitoring attendance, ensuring that all personnel in the Laundry section report on time and adhere to working hours and that sufficient laundry personnel are on duty at any given day;
Makes rounds and inspections to assure that laundry personnel are performing required duties, appropriate laundry procedures are being rendered, and quality control measures are continually maintained;
Planning and co-coordinating all types of leave in a way that laundry operations are not affected;
Develop new methods for increasing laundry efficiency.
Inspects finished laundered items to ensure conformance to standards;
Observes operation of machines and equipment to detect possible malfunctions. To report any mechanical problems to Facility Manager immediately;
Investigates and resolves students/matron complaint of unsatisfactory work or bundle shortage;
Ensure that there is enough amount of cleaning detergents at all time;
Be continually alert for the safety of all team members and reporting any unsafe conditions or suspicious activity to the immediate Facility Manager.
Maintain equipment clean and in good working order;
To maintain a high level of discipline in your labor force. All disciplinary issues should be solved immediately by being reported to the supervisor without delay.
Personal & professional attributes
Minimum of five years housekeeping/Laundry Management experience in Hotel Industry.
Diploma in Housekeeping/ Laundry Management from a recognised technical college.
Experience in managing employees
Excellent communication and organizational skills with Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities. Highly responsible & reliable and also ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues
