A Bit About The Role

The company is seeking a Head of Commercial to build their core sales engine, strategy and team with the aim of launching the company into its next phase of growth. The ideal candidate will be a leader who can help them capture and dominate this client segment first. In this role, you will jump head on into a range of active conversations to structure deals that meet these clients’ specific influencer marketing needs. In addition, the company works with numerous global agency partners and needs your support to identify and prioritise new business opportunities with them. This role is perfect for you, if you don’t wait around for someone to give you the answers or ideas, and you’re highly motivated by outpacing the pack and besting yourself month on month (and demand to be handsomely rewarded for doing so).

Requirements

Your daily adventures include:

Develop the company’s commercial strategy for attracting enterprise-level clients in the FMCG, Telco, Banking, Financial Services, and Pharmaceutical sectors and beyond
Develop the team structure and hiring plan, setting targets for individual contributors in line with the company’s growth plans
Help prepare the sales team and account managers for work in diverse geographies across the African continent, teaching and coaching on localization and relevant outreach tactics
Develop sufficient pipeline with the team and track progress on a routine basis through rigorous documentation and by adopting a robust meeting cadence
Manage CRM tools with supporting project managers to ensure accurate and up-to-date records
Hold team members to high standards of integrity and performance as both a driving force of revenue and of the company culture
Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on new commercial opportunities (geographic expansion, industry plays sales etc.)
Partner with the technology team to develop smart dashboards and reporting systems using key revenue metrics to help business leaders in decision making and planning
Develop team budgets and partner with marketing on developing robust lead generation programs to enhance sales efforts
Drive specialisation efforts for industry-specific team sales outreach and support in priority growth areas and segments
Pilot new customer acquisition strategies in line with the latest technology trends in the ad-tech space
Interface directly with and build durable relationships with most value clients

What It Takes To Succeed

BSc/BA in business administration, finance, or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
Proven experience as commercial director or another relevant role
Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients
In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
Business mindset and sense
At least 7+ years of experience
At least 3 years in a leadership role
Experience in start-ups and scaling up a team
Ability to align a high-performing team to organisational goals
